Personality:
For most of her life, Aveline has been aware of the dichotomies that exist all around her because of her parentage. Aveline was born to a slave and a wealthy businessman which has caused her to exist between two worlds. Her mother was eventually freed by her father, also granting her freedom. As a result, Aveline grew up in privilege even after the disappearance of her mother. However, just because she grew up in a wealthy and protected environment did not mean that Aveline was sheltered. She was more than aware of the life that she could have led had she and her mother not been freed and she is also aware of the restrictions placed upon her by society by the basis of her gender as well as her racial background. This serves as part of Aveline's motivation to help free slaves in New Orleans aside from the very obvious "human enslavement is bad/wrong." Aveline is grateful for what she has and knows so many others are not quite so lucky. It is a duty for her to involve herself in the liberation of slaves and the protection of those who might not be able to defend themselves.

Aveline's ability to perceive dichotomies in the social environment has also allowed for her to be highly adaptable. She knows the importance of appearances and what they communicate to others. For example, dressed as a refined lady, would-be suitors expect her to be coy and playful. Aveline plays precisely into that in order to get what she needs or wants such as information or even for the purposes of assassinating a target. Likewise, she knows how to blend in and behave correctly as a slave when infiltrating plantations and mansions to help free slaves. Not everything she does, however, is an act. Aveline was a doting daughter towards her father as one would expect her to be, but she really did think the world of her father. And although she would behave in a softer and more delicate manner for his benefit - as he did not know of her involvement with the Assassins -, he was well-aware of her desire for independence and her general abilities to be independent which is why he doesn't press the issue of marriage with her very much. If anything, he encouraged Aveline to pursue her own happiness how ever she saw fit.

Aveline is also already quite married to her work and doesn't typically mix work with pleasure. For example, when Gérald confessed his not-so-secret secret feelings towards her time and time again, Aveline frequently discourages that particular conversation as gently as possible. Such an entanglement could easily be a distraction from the work at hand and generally complicate things. Therefore, Aveline has decided that it's best to stay focused on work. She is not heartbroken at this or resentful of it, however. Aveline dedicated herself to the Assassin Brotherhood after Agaté, her mentor, saved her from slavers when she was younger and finds a great deal of happiness and satisfaction when she is able to help protect the freedom of those around her. Aveline didn't always listen to Agaté, of course, and follow his instructions, but her dedication to the Brotherhood was unquestionable if sometimes a little too much. Aveline was (and still is) often very impulsive not due to a lack of self-control, but rather she couldn't simply sit back and wait. Inaction in the face of an injustice - even for the sake of formulating a better plan - is one of the worst possible things to do from Aveline's perspective. More or less, Aveline would prefer not to mess around, but not entirely due to impatience. It is also in part due to the fact that others will often suffer in the meantime and she is absolutely not going to turn her back on that.

Aveline's relationship to the Brotherhood in recent times, however, is a little more up in the air. Aveline was devastated to find that her stepmother was the Grand Master of the Templar Order in New Orleans. However, this also called into question whether or not the Brotherhood was the right means to the ends Aveline wanted to achieve because Madeleine had raised her for more years than her own mother and had helped to shape her just as much as Agaté. However, Aveline decides for herself that the Templars are not the solution as the Order typically lends itself to corruption and results in the enslavement of others. In other words, the Order stood for everything that Aveline had spent her life fighting against. Even if she still had questions and doubts about her place among the Assassins, she could not condone the Order's motives and means.

Beyond her views and beliefs regarding larger social and philosophical questions though, Aveline is someone who thirsts for life. As alluded to earlier, while Aveline can thrive in high society just fine after years of training, she prefers a different life. Aveline is a little bit of a thrillseeker and would much rather be in the bayou facing the dangers there than flitting about at balls and social events. Aveline has a great sense of humor and will genuinely return teases even if she ignores some of the more flirtatious remarks since she is a) too busy and b) not interested. She also shows a great amount of interest in the stories of other people such as when she asks Élise how she became involved with Roussillon. She is also in her element when it comes to moving through the business world. Aveline is shrewd when it comes to managing her father's business and makes wise decisions to continue expanding and keep the business alive, but she is also aware of the cutthroat nature inherent to the market. When competitors start slandering her coffee, she makes a point to pay a personal visit and put an end to it with words for the time being and every intention of following through with more if necessary.

Overall, Aveline is an independent woman with a number of talents, but is definitely not too stubborn to ask for help when necessary. She cares for the well-being of others and would see to it that everyone be treated equal with their freedoms respected. She is also someone who exists between multiple and opposing worlds that has served as a benefit in terms of her ability to move through the world and do what she believes is necessary and just, but it has also been a source of conflict for her. While she does somewhat struggle with her identity as an Assassin now, she has managed to successfully rule out the idea of becoming a Templar. Aveline does, however, know the difference between right and wrong and she's not the sort of person to ever turn her back on an injustice.

Powers/Abilities:
Freerunning/Stealth: Aveline has a great deal of skill when it comes to freerunning (parkour). She's able to amble up buildings quickly and how to go about it quietly. She's also able to get down from heights with a Leap of Faith into a haystack/pile of foliage (without somehow breaking every bone of her body or internally bleeding to death). Aveline has also managed to increase the distance she can jump with a whip. (Note: Aveline cannot climb while she's in her lady persona because you try to climb with those skirts on.) Aveline is also a master at blending into her environment. She is also adept at pickpocketing, snatching up someone's possessions and leaving before they even realize they're missing.

Combat: As hinted at by the word Assassin, Aveline is extremely deadly. She has had training from Agaté in both armed and unarmed combat. She is also lethal from a distance. Aveline is a decent shot with a gun and will poison enemies using her blowdart for a more quiet approach. Aveline also will use her whip to pull her opponent closer to her and either finish them off or just drag them to the ground and get out of dodge.

Eagle Vision: Aveline has blood of the First Civilization/Those Who Came Before/Prescursor in her family (though she doesn't know this), which essentially gives her a sixth sense. She's able to read the intentions of those around here, allowing her to identify targets, enemies, friendlies, and neutrals with some handy-dandy color-coding.

Miscellaneous: Aveline is quite skilled when it comes to social graces. She knows how to behave as a proper, aristocratic lady should (despite the fact she refuses to marry). She knows how to dance, hold conversation, proper manners, how to play piano, etc. Aveline is also a skilled businesswoman as well and although inheritance requires that her father's business go to Gérald upon her father's death, it is Aveline who runs the company. Aveline is also at least bilingual and fluent in French and English. (It's somewhat implied that she may know at least bits and pieces of Spanish as well since New Orleans was eventually taken over by the Spanish.)

The first thing Aveline had notices about this place upon waking was that her weapons were all missing. She looks around at the others, watching as they stir and take a look at their surroundings. No one nearby seems to have any idea where they are or how they got here any more than she does. They seem to be just as out of place as Aveline though she can't help but feel she is even more out of place with their strange clothing. When the woman at the front of the room begins speaking, Aveline decides to stay put, scanning the faces of those around her for reactions. A word catches her attention, however.

Utopia?

It sounds too good to be true.

Especially coupled with the idea that everyone is trapped until further notice. All it sounds like to Aveline is another form of enslavement charading as freedom. Her mind wanders back to Chichen Itza. The people who ended up there had been tricked with similarly honeyed words. But no freedom could be found in a place like that and certainly nothing in a place like this.

Aveline decides not to waste time. She will have time to converse with others later, she believes. She makes her way through the small crowd in the temple to the exit. First, she will need to get her bearings and get a lay of the land and find out more about this place. Afterward, she can worry about locating weapons. Or perhaps along the way. Aveline slows as she peers inside what she assumes is the kitchen. Aveline glances back at everyone else to be sure no one is paying her mind or following her. She'll just help herself to one of those knives...
